Pioneering European hepatology research projects at the Department for BioMedical Research of the University of Bern

Various research groups at the DBMR of the University of Bern constantly engage in pioneering European hepatology research projects designed to develop better methods in treatment of liver diseases thus helping our patients on a highly sophisticated medical level. Here a DBMR snapshot of the research group of Dr. med. Annalisa Berzigotti, professor in hepatology at the University of Bern and senior physician at the University Clinic for Visceral Surgery and Medicine, Hepatology (UVCM) at Insel Spital Bern.

Dr. Ahmed Hashim, from UK and Sudan (left sided), joined the hepatology research group of Prof. Annalisa Berzigotti (front) for 6 weeks from 22. July to 8. September 2019. He was supported by a fellowship of the BASL (British Association for the Study of the Liver). Together with him, Dr. Chiara Becchetti, a fellow from Padua, Italy joined the group in May 2019. She will stay for 6 months in Bern. Dr. Yuly Mendoza from Colombia is undertaking a PhD at the hepatology entity from September 2018 to August 2020 and Dr. Susana Rodrigues from Portugal, a permanent clinical staff, just recently was promoted to junior physician and now is member of the cadre physician team of Prof. Dr. med. Jean-François Dufour, Head Physician and Clinic Director of UVCM/Hepatology. At the same time she is supporting Prof. Berzigotti in various research projects.
