As University Hospital the Inselspial is part of the Insel Gruppe AG and plays an important role within the Swiss health care system. With outstanding medical competences, high technology and scientific knowledge the hospital enjoys international reputation and is placed at the interface of science and research. The Inselspital was founded in 1354 and today is deeply rooted within the community pf Berm. Over 8000 dedicated staff members at place and more than 10.000 within the Hospital Group do their utmost every day in this “City of Health" to ensure that around 44.000 inpatients and 295.000 outpatients per year receive the best possible medical treatment and care.

As a teaching hospital a continuous monitoring of the strategic policy positions and principles – particularly with regard to the changing framework of health care policies – is possible.

What is expected  from you:

  • A high level of motivation and a willingness to learn,

Interested foreign students with a good command of German may apply - after completion of the first part of their medical exams - for a period of 3 to 4 months. The attestation of equivalence will be given to you by the "Study Planning Office".

Internships and projects for Bachelor and Master students

Internships create a unique opportunity to be confronted to research and clinical issues. At the Department of Hepatology, we offer a variety of possible projects and final theses for bachelor as well as master level. These projects can be either purely clinical or laboratory projects spanning the basic, translational and clinical research. Furthermore, in our outpatient clinic, we offer to one to two students, the possibility to take part in the hepatology consultations, in order to experience Hepatology in everyday clinical life.
